Mr. Thakur Raj Pandey has been a seminal figure in the field of tourism and ecology in Nepal for over 35 years. He is the former General Secretary of Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA), an organization administering mountain activities in Nepal, and a general board member of Namlo Nepal, an organization dedicated to empowering the rural communities of Nepal. He is regarded as one of the most knowledgeable and respected figures not just in the field of tourism, but also in the field of culture, ecology, and wildlife of this country. As a student of anthropology and sociology at Tribhuvan University, Mr. Pandey spent years studying various indigenous cultures, ecology, wildlife, and landscapes of Nepal and its neighboring countries, such as India, Bhutan, and Tibet. He then spent his time exploring these places and getting the first- hand experience of various aspects of these regions. Over the years, he’s managed to accumulate an encyclopedic knowledge of these areas, rivaled only by a few, and has become your go-to-guy for any sort of information regarding this country. Whether you want to know the name of that never- seen flower you saw in some remote village or want to find that hidden, quirky restaurant at the heart of the city, he will not disappoint you. With the aim of fostering fair rules and regulations for everyone involved in mountaineering, Mr. Pandey joined the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) in 2014. Since then he has participated in several international tourism development programs, such as UIAA (The International Climbing and Mountaineering Federation) and UAAA (Union of Asian Alpine Association) and has traveled all over the world (US, Japan, UK, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, China, Belgium, Italy, Switzerland, France, Netherlands, Germany, and almost all South Asian countries) promoting tourism in Nepal. He has also been an active member of organizations such as Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN), Namlo Nepal, and Kathmandu Environment Education Project (KEEP). In addition to being involved in various tourism and ecology related developmental activities, Mr. Pandey has been successfully running his own trekking company, First Environmental Trekking, for nearly 3 decades. His significant contributions to tourism and his genuine love and concern for anyone who visits this country have made him one of the most loved people in the field of tourism in Nepal. Being a responsible citizen he has been involved in community development by being the founding member of the Megha Bank and Manmohan Memorial Hospital, community services to the local community by being a Chairman of the Siddheshwar Development Committee, and involved in Lion Club, Redcross society by doing various community work to the community.

Mohan Lamsal from Lazimpat-2, Kathmandu is a General Secretary of Nepal Mountaineering Association. He is the Managing Director of Makalu Adventure Pvt. Ltd, Executive Director of Adventure Nepal Makalu Trekking Pvt. Ltd, Chairman of Makalu Treks Pvt. Ltd, Yeti Bike Race Pvt. Ltd, Makalu Adventure Heli Service Pvt. Ltd, Hotel Thamel Eco Resort, Nepal Yoga Retreat Center and Hotel Thamel Holiday Inn. He has already served as a governor of Kiwanis International Nepal, President of Nepal Yoga Association, General Secretary and Treasurer of Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN), Executive Member of Nepal Canyoning Association (NCA) and President of Porters Progress Nepal. He has visited several countries around the world; USA, Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, France, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Turkey, China, Hongkong, Taiwan, India, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Japan, Korea, South Africa, Middle East, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Russia, Australia and New Zealand among others. He has already been awarded with various prestigious awards such as by Nepal Tourism Award-2016, Tourism Man of the Year-2016, Tourism Goodwill Ambassador- 2016/ 2017, Certificate of Appreciation by a Tourism Fortnightly Magazine, Five Clubs Extension Chairperson Award, Best Zone Chairperson Award, International President’s Certificate of Appreciation, Five Membership Growth Award, District Governor’s Certification of Appreciation and also District Governor’s Certification.

Dhan Bahadur Gurung also known as Dhane Gurung belongs to Baseri, Dhading. Secretary of Nepal Mountaineering Association Mr. Gurung had already served NMA as a Central Secretariat Member from 2014-2017. I am a registered trekking guide NMA No 312 Sirdar and Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management (NATHM).My Guide License No (75) in the Nepalese Himalayas. After working several years as a porter-Cook-and-Sherpa, and becoming fluent in English and French languages, I became a guide in 1984. I have spent the past over 20 years as a professional trekking and climbing guide, Worked as a Trekking Sirdar-Guide at Ganesh Himal trekking and Yeti Mountaineering Trekking & Expedition Company. During the last over 38 years, he worked two months as a volunteer service Dolaka district Simi Gaun, Beddem, and Babre on (WFP, UN) World food programs in 2014 he has become very familiar with many Trekking Destination, including The Everest, Makalu, Rolwaling, Annapurna and Langtang Regions as well well as Mustang, Dolpo, Kanchenjunga, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal and Helambu. He has knowledge about local flora and fauna, cultural history, and environmental issues in these areas. For trekkers hoping to climb high passes and peaks, he can accommodate this challenging and rewarding adventure. His experience includes Mera peak (6461m), Island peak (6189m), Pisang Peak (6091m), Chulu East (6584m) Lobuche peak (6119m), Thorong peak (6420m) Thapa peak (6012m) Kala Patthar, Gokyo RI and he has lead many high passes trek in Nepal such as Larkye pass, Ampulapcha Pass, Chola pass, Dhaulagiri pass, Sherpani col, Renjula pass, Tashilapcha pass, Ganjala pass, Throng pass, Tilicho pass, Numula, Bagala, Chharka pass, Sangdala pass, etc. He has already traveled to France, Bangla Desh, Germany, and Austria.

Mukti Pandey, a well known dynamic personality in Nepali tourism industry is the Treasurer of Nepal Mountaineering Association. He has spent more than 20 years of his life in this industry. Started as a porter now he is the Managing Director of the various companies such as Himalayas on Foot Trekking Pvt. Ltd, Everest Experience Travel which is the only company in Kathmandu to offer Everest Base Camp day tours by helicopter for individual tourists everyday on a group joining base and one of the budget friendly hotels located at the heart of the city Maya Boutique Hotel. Mr. Pandey is also the President of Parimal Saving & Credit. Likewise, he has already served as a Secretary of Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN) from 2015-2017 and to work for the betterment of the society and its people he took a lead and became a Charter President of Lions Club of Nepal Everest. The active social worker and tourism entrepreneur Mr. Pandey is also keen on cycling. He was also a team member of Nepal Bicycle Festival 2020 which was organized to promote and revive the tourism sector of Nepal which was badly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The team cycled from Mahendranagar to Shree Antu Danda covering the total distance of 1,780 kilometers in their three weeks long tour. The aim of the tour was to give back a life to the tourism of the country which was paralyzed by the COVID-19 pandemic and also to spread a positive message to the people all around the country by promoting and lifting up the domestic tourism and the tourism industry as a whole. He has already traveled to many countries around the world such as Europe, the United States of America, Australia and many other Asian countries.

Ang Norbu Sherpa from Sifal Ward No.7, Kathmandu is an Executive Board Member of Nepal Mountaineering Association. He is also the founder of Nepal Mountaineering Instructors’ Association(NMIA), President of Nepal National Mountain Guide Association (NNMGA), Vice President of Chamonix/ Khumbu Association and also the member of Foundation of Yves Polivilard France (FYPV). Sherpa has taken various mountaineering and adventure related training from national and international agencies such as Assessor Training Level 4- Mountaineering Sector, Mountain Medicine Training-2012, Senior Guide Certification-2012, Mid Guide Course-1996, Incentive Mountaineering Training, International Mountain Rescue Course, Advance Mountaineering Course, Basic Mountaineering Course and many more. He has successfully ascended numerous mountains in Nepal and in other countries in the capacity of mountain guide and also coordinated in various search and rescue operations in various places. As recognition of his active engagement on rescuing and evacuating over 850 European Nationalities during the massive Earthquake in Nepal in 2015 from the different parts of Nepal, he was awarded with the highest national honors from the government of France titled Legion D ‘ Honneur in 2016 AD. Along with this, he was also awarded with a medal for his acts of courage and dedication from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of France.

Doma Sherpa, 32 born and raised in the Beni wad no. 2, Solukhumbu District is the central executive board member of Nepal Mountaineering Association and the very first female sherpa journalist Mt. Everest Summiteer- 2018 and a Central Executive Board Member of Nepal Mountaineering Association. Sherpa is also a founder president of Nepal Alpine Foundation- 2021 and also a freelance TV Journalist, Documentary Maker and Vlogger. She completed her M.A from Shepherd College of Media Technology. She has already participated in the Cine 2000 Film Festival, Ajaccio, France 2019 and also participated as a youth delegate in SAARC Youth Charter and Action Plan 2014 in Maldives, as a report presenter in Regional Training on Advocacy for Indigenious Youth in 2017 in Chaing Mai, Thailand and many more. Likewise, she has also been featured in the book “Les Nepalaises se l ‘ Everest France 2021 and “50 Women from Nepal” by Bec Ordish which was published in 2020. Sherpa has been awarded by various national and international organizations for her deeds.

Dinesh Tamang, Central Executive Board member of Nepal Mountaineering Association was born and grew up in a remote village of Langtang region which is situated in Rasuwa district. Dinesh has worked in several sectors which includes construction, hydropower, World Food Program (WFP), Human Resource Management, Restaurant, Non-profit organization and travel and trekking. Throughout his career, Dinesh found out that tourism is the most satisfying and interesting career. Later he decided travel and tourism as his future career. He was fascinated by tourism when he went trekking in Langtang region as a porter in 2002 while he was studying grade nine. He completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Studies and pursued his Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Shanker Dev Campus. After gaining knowledge from working experiences in different sectors and different positions, he had got confidence to run a travel company. He proved himself as one of the best employees while he was working in different sectors and still those employers admire him for his dedication, talent, hard work and honesty. In 2013, Dinesh with his other business partners founded a travel/trekking company called ‘Trekking Experts Pvt. Ltd.’. The name of the trekking company is self-explanatory because he claims himself as one of the experts in the trekking industry as he learnt about trekking through deep study, exploration and dedication. His success and growth are the evidence of referring to him as a ‘Trekking Expert’. Now, Dinesh is running half a dozen companies in different fields of business. His working experience in different sectors proved as assets for him which helped him to expand his business. Dinesh Tamang is the Chairman of The Group of Companies. He is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Trekking Experts Pvt. Ltd. He is also Co-Owner of different companies like Tour Experts Pvt. Ltd., Vahi International Pvt. Ltd, i4 Technologies Pvt. Ltd, Cross Transport Service etc. Dinesh has been working in tourism actively for the last 17 years. Today he is a well known young tourism entrepreneur and social activist in Nepalese tourism industry.

Namgyal Zangbu Sherpa from Chabahil, Kathmandu is an Central Executive Board Member of Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA). He has already worked as an operations and communications manager in Khumbu-ila Travel and Tours and later as a Manager in the same agency. He completed his Bachelors of Tourism from Central Queensland University, Australia. Likewise, Sherpa has also completed various mountaineering courses such as Basic Mountaineering Course (BMC) and Advanced Mountaineering Course (AMC).

Lal Bahadur Waiba from Netrakali-8, Sindhuli is a Board Member of Nepal Mountaineering Association. It’s me Lal Bahadur Waiba. I’m from a remote Village which is close to The Hilly Region Mahabharat Range part of the Central region of Nepal. Netrakali 8 Sindhuli. Thorong la pass (5416m) was his first trek in 2001 & his second trek was Around Dhaulagiri as a Porter. After that he worked as a Porter, Kitchen staff, Porter guide, Japanese Cook, Assistant Guide, trekking guide, now he is doing specially Japanese & English language spoken Mountain Guide from Cosmos Trek (P.) Ltd. since 2003 He has successfully guided several trips in popular Passes including three passes Everest Base Camp, Kalapathar, Around Manaslu, Nar Phu Gaun, Teri pass, Kangla Pass, Eastern Pass, Misokanta Pass, Upper Mustang, West Nepal Saipal, Humla, Upper & Lower Dolpo, Trekking Light Expedition & major Expedition with worldwide trekkers. He also summited Mount Manaslu 8163 meters. He has already summited many mountains above and below 8000 m including Cho- You, Mt.Qomolangma, Amadablam, Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Island Peak, Yala Peak, and many more. He has already completed various training such as Trekking Guide Training, Basic Rescue Training, Introductory Rock Climbing Training, Wilderness First Aid Course and 35th Basic Mountaineering Training. He is also a Treasurer of Mountain Guides Association of Nepal (MoGAN) and Founder Vice President of Nepal Independent Tourism Workers’ Guild (NITWOG) which works as a voice of the tourism workers.
